Get on your big bright red truck and head down to Ocean City, Maryland this June! It’s time for the 126^th Annual Firemen’s Convention! For three whole days, celebrate the heroes who protect us from one of nature’s cruelest tricks! Whether you’re an acting firefighter, an aspiring firefighter, or just a supporter, this convention is fun for everyone! This year’s convention is sure to be a blast!

Every year we honor the people of the State of Maryland Fire and Rescue Services with a convention and conference, and every year fun is had along the way. It’s a great chance to meet the firefighters who keep our great state as flame-free as can be! There are also loads of exhibits to check out! From June 18^th through June 20^th, spend your days fighting fire with firemen!

The festivities begin Monday June 18^th with the Opening Ceremonies at 8:30am! During the week, take part in training opportunities and enjoy seminars! It’s a great way to decide if you want to be a fireman too! Of course, as we gather together, we must also honor the fallen. The Memorial Service is on Sunday June 17^th at 7pm.

Each day of this convention has its own hours, so make sure you get to the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on time to join in on the fun! Monday’s festivities last from 8:30am to 4pm; Tuesday’s last from 9am to 4pm; Wednesday’s last from 9am to 12pm. From May 17^th through the 20^th, cruise up and down the coastline in your swanky ride and attend events catered for classic car enthusiasts. Take part in one of the many car shows we’ll have at the 40^th Street Convention Center, the Inlet, and various other locations throughout the city. Join in one of our auctions and bid on the car of your dreams. For the car enthusiast, this is the event of the year.

This year’s Cruisin’ Week has an exciting new addition! A location has been added at the US 13 Dragway in Delmar, Delaware. Events take place Friday and Saturday and include no-prep racing, burnout contests, test and tunes, and more! It’s only a short drive from Ocean City, so you’ll want to add this stop to your list.

We’ve got some exciting guests coming this year. From the hit show American Pickers, Rob Wolfe will be at the Convention Center from 11am to 4pm on Friday and at the Beachside Inlet from 11am to 4pm. He’ll be signing autographs and taking pictures. Also joining us this year is Erin Murphy, best known for her role as Tabitha on Bewitched. She’ll be at the Inlet on Friday from 11am to 4pm and at the Convention Center from 11am to 4pm on Saturday. Meet and greets will be held at both events. Courtney Hansen from the hit shows Overhaulin’, PowerNation, and Power Block will be here as well, lending her extended knowledge of cars. She’ll be at the U.S. 13 Dragway event on Saturday and at the Beachside Inlet on Sunday from 11am to 1pm.

Hermin’s Hermits starring Peter Noone will be performing at the Ocean City Performing Arts Center on Thursday, May 17^th. Tickets are on sale at ticketmaster.com and 1-800-551-SEAT. Don’t miss a thrilling show, featuring such hit songs as “I’m Into Something Good” and “There’s a Kind of Hush.”

Well, in Ocean City you don’t have to! This Saturday we have two charity walks that you can take part in! The first one is Walk MS, a 5K and 1 mile walk to raise funding for research, programs, and services for people living with MS. In Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Washington DC, there are over 15,000 people diagnosed with MS. In joining this walk, you’ll be helping them live their lives to the fullest. The walk starts at Jolly Roger’s and goes all the way to the Boardwalk. There are rest stops along the way, as well as turn-around points. The event kicks off with breakfast and registration at 8am. Don’t miss your chance to burn some calories and raise money for people in need.
If you have a pet that would love to join you, then you should attend Boardwalkin’ for Pets! An annual walk-a-thon run by the Worcester County Humane Society, this fundraiser benefits the Ocean City area’s no-kill shelter. Bring your pet for an exciting day of walking the Boardwalk with pals! You and your animal buddy can walk whatever distance you choose, marveling at the sights and smells of the ocean. But that’s not all! Refreshment are provided by Harrison’s Harbor Watch Restaurant and Layton’s Family Restaurant! From 8am to 12pm, you can take part in all this and all it costs is one registration fee! Leave your paw prints on Ocean City!
