Your Guide to Ocean City, MD this June and July
Summer is officially here, and Ocean City, Maryland is ready for it. Whether you are a longtime regular making your annual pilgrimage or a first-timer finally checking OC off the list, the next two months are packed with reasons to head to the shore. Here is a look at what to expect from the boardwalk, the beach, and beyond.
June: The Season Kicks Off
June is one of the best-kept secrets in OC. The crowds have not yet hit their August peak, the water is warming up nicely, and the town has a relaxed energy that longtime visitors know to treasure.
OC Air Show -June 13 and 14
The skies over the beach roar to life as the Blue Angels and other performers fly precision maneuvers directly over the ocean. It is one of the most popular free events of the summer, running roughly 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Arrive early - the best spots on the boardwalk and beach fill up fast.
Tuna and Tiaras Tournament -June 12 to 13
One of OC's most spirited fishing events, Tuna and Tiaras is a ladies-only offshore tournament based out of the OC Marina. It draws competitive anglers from up and down the coast for two days of deep-sea fishing, camaraderie, and celebration.
Free Movies on the Beach - Every Wednesday
Every Wednesday night, the Carousel Hotel hosts free outdoor movies right on the beach. Bring a blanket, grab some snacks, and settle in for a film under the stars with the sound of the ocean in the background.
Endless Beach Days
Beyond the events, June is a great time to enjoy OC at its most relaxed. The beach stretches ten miles, the surf is warm by late in the month, and evenings at Thrasher's followed by a Kohr Brothers cone feel exactly right.
July: Peak Summer in Full Swing
July in Ocean City is the full experience. The boardwalk hums from morning to midnight, parking lots fill by 10 a.m. on weekends, and the beach is a sea of umbrellas and sunscreen. It is loud, joyful, and unmistakably summer.
Fourth of July Fireworks - July 4
OC's fireworks show launches over the ocean at dusk and can be watched from the beach, boardwalk, a balcony, or a boat offshore. Arrive early for a good spot on the sand, and plan to linger -- the boardwalk energy on the Fourth is hard to beat.
Greek Festival -July 24 to 26
The OC Greek Festival is a summer highlight, bringing authentic food, live music, dancing, and cultural celebrations to town for a festive weekend. A great change of pace from the beach routine.
Sundaes in the Park with Fireworks - Every Sunday in July
Every Sunday night, Northside Park hosts one of OC's most beloved summer traditions: free live music capped off with a fireworks show. Bring chairs, bring snacks, and stake out your spot on the lawn early.
Ocean City in June and July is everything a beach vacation should be: sun, surf, salt air, good food, and that mix of relaxation and excitement that only happens when a whole town dedicates itself to summer. Whether you spend your days fishing, surfing, riding the rides at Trimper's, or reading under an umbrella while the waves roll in, OC will deliver.
Pack the sunscreen. The shore is waiting.
